Ophthalmologists (eye surgeons) are specialist medical eye doctors who, behind completing medical school and occupied a minimum of 3 years as a general doctor, undertake a further 57 years of advanced training in the medical and surgical management of eye diseases. A retina specialist is an ophthalmologist who has undergone a further 12 years training in disorders of the retina and vitreous. All our doctors are members of ANZsRS (Australian and Fresh Zealand society of Retina Specialist). Orthoptists are university trained professionals who bear ophthalmic diagnostic services, assessment of eye disorders and assistance to ophthalmologists. At Strathfield Retina Clinic our orthoptists are highly proficient in retinal imaging and uniquely trained to bear education about retinal disorders and procedures.
