Victoria Jacono-Gilmovich

Victoria Jacono began to play the violin when she was 6 years old. She holds an A-mus-A and L-Mus-A on violin, an A-Mus-A and L-Mus-A on viola and also a Bachelor of Music with honours, from the Australian Institute of Music. Victoria proudly performs on a modern Italian violin made by Giuseppe Pellacani, and an Australian viola made by Harry Vatilioutis. Since 2005, alongside many performances and recordings for musicals, the Lurline Chamber Orchestra and the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, Ilythian Ensemble, Halcyon, Chronology Arts, the Sydney Philharmonia Orchestra, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Victoria has been working freelance with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, various pop artists and film productions. The trio won the prestigious musica viva chamber music prize in 2009, and has a concert series alongside an abc classic-fm recording lined up for 2010. Victoria is also the violinist in the strelitzia piano trio. Victoria also enjoys being actively involved in Contemporary and Australian music, she works closely with many Australian composers to commission and help create new compositions, as well as regularly performing and recording new music. As a soloist, the Balmain Sinfonia, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the PLC Chamber orchestra, The Queensland Youth Orchestra, the Young Symphonists orchestra, Victoria has performed with the SBS Radio and Television Orchestra, Sydney Sinfonia Orchestra and the Meuller International Chamber Orchestra. She has helped raised money through performances for the Exodus Foundation, The SADS foundation, the Oak Tree Foundation, the Malcolm Sargent Cancer Fund for Children and the Oncology Children’s Foundation. Many of these performances have been recorded and broadcast for 2-MBS-FM, ABC Classic FM and Radio NZ. Victoria also regularly performs to help a variety of charity organisations around the country. Victoria performs for a number of musical organisations including The Australian Institute of Music, Halcyon and Chronology Arts, the St Andrew’s Young Concert Artists Series, The Art Gallery of NSW Concert Series, the Ryde & Hills District Music Club, Manly Music Club, the Mostly Mozart Festival, Australian Musician's Academy, as well as organising her own performances. As a member of these orchestras, The Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, China, she has performed in Japan, the Slovak Republic and Spain. Victoria has enjoyed working with many orchestras; Performing as concert master for the SBS Radio and Television Orchestra, “ARCO”, the International Youth Orchestra in Spain 2001, The Young Symphonists orchestra, Sydney Sinfonia Orchestra and Eminence Symphony Orchestra. Along with numerous prizes from eisteddfods and competitions all around the country, the “International String Player of the year” award at the Gisborne International Music Competition in New Zealand, the Perry Hart Memorial prize, the Marcus Edwards Violin Prize, the Wenkart Foundation Scholarship, Victoria was the winner of the National Youth Concerto Competition, and the Order of Australia Association Scholarship.
